1795 half eagle broadstrike / copper from Timothy's private collection
It was time to pick out a couple of items from my own supply for something interesting...and to try and compensate for losing an entire week of work to the ice storm here in Arkansas!
Support Ron's one-man labor force!
I will gladly provide a hand-written "From the Collection of" paperwork if desired.
When the 1795 half eagle dies were created, an experiment was devised to create better eye appeal on the die surface. The idea was to accelerate the die wear and create a deeper luster before striking the gold. To this end, many, thick copper blanks were struck with excessive pressure, successively.
This is one of those surviving pieces.
The piece is currently void of the needed "COPY" stamp that will ABSOLUTELY be applied before sale, NO NEGOTIATING.
